1) Intro:

I want to keep up with the development of the OpenSolaris. At this time the community edition is snv_87.

As I have installed the “Solaris express Developer Edtion 1/08, and I am using it as a day-to-day workststation, I don’t want to mess up my current setup (emails, documents, devleopments …), I choose to use the VM scheme to install the “bleeding” edge version.

I have been a long time admin of Solaris sparc servers and x86, professionally speaking.

I remember that I needed quite a lot of time to learn how to use the tools, browsing thru myriads of books and manuals, without really understanding their mechanism or inner workings. The manuals are explicit enough to carry out the daily work. But I was frustrated.

This month, I prefer to write some “thinking” more palatable than Politics or down-to-earth subjects.

Hello,

It’s only a cookbook and personal reminder.

I have a Brother DPC-115C multifunction printer.It’s ruuning without any problem on Windoz XP. As I heavily use linux on my everyday basis. I have only start to install linux drivers for this printer usage. First on my fedora FC6 and then on Gentoo.

As always I should have red thoroughly the succinct documentation on the Brother Linux solutions. I use the MFC210 driver which is compatible for DPC115C. Read the rest of this entry »
