1) Intro
I installed Eeepclinuxos 3.1beta on a 2GB SD card, some time ago.
After “playing” around with the default Xandros OS, I come back to Eeepclinuxos.
I have encountered problems to connect to my wifi adsl router.
Parameters settings.
All the way down, I am impressed by the Eeeplinuxos features, and of course by the people behind this OS.

2) SD card setup
Cf. http://www.eeepclinuxos.com/index.php?view=article&catid=1:latest-news&id=52:sincerest-gratitude&format=pdf

In a nutshell, I installed the Eeepclinuxos via my Vista Desktop (why not ? If it can make my life easier.), put the SD in Eeepc slot. Reboot. Esc. Choose SD. Install to the Eeepc.

-Download, install UnetBootin-EeePCLOS, the GUI based wizard to create live usb, at http://www.eeepclinuxos.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49&Itemid=58.

- Follow the indications on the former web page.

Things to know: The Eeepclinuxos on the SD card, contains both live and the yet-to-come installation. unionfs.
On the same SD card, I reserved 1.3GB for the compressed system, and 250MB for the changes.
Be careful as to the device name, both for live usb and installation in situ.!!!
Users: guest/guest. root/root .

3) Testing wifi to my adls router:
The Eeepc recognized the internet connection, adsl.
Keyboard, touchpad, sound, webcam: OK.

pc-> Configure your computer->Network&Internet
Setup a new network interface-> wireless->atheros.
For me: essid, wep,password, dhcp,Ad-Hoc.
iwconfig, ifconfig to check the settings.
Check the Eeepc Bluelight (toggle on/off fn+f2).

If a connection is possible, then a short pop up window message will be displayed (on/off).
A icon will be displayed at the task bar (right side).
Either two terminals image, or a wifi meter showing the signal strength.

Check:
bash-3.1$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wifi0 no wireless extensions.

4) Others:
- wpa capable (since supplicant is included). I have nt tested it yet.
- UTMS USB E169 stick, recognized and setup was easy. Cf to my former posting.
- From a terminal:
Install kismet. apt-get install. Take time to learn.
/etc/kismet.conf
user
card characteristics.

Or (?)
#kismet -c madwifi_g,wifi0,wifi0

- net_applet, to browse net access.
